Let’s say you have a kid with a meth addiction. You would be completely in the right to criticize said child’s behavior. Criticizing that child doesn’t mean you don’t love your child. This is a bullshit argument.
America doesn’t seem very kind to Americans either
I think he forgets that being a foreigner might make you more privy to news that a country’s own news might not run or might skew, but doesn’t give them any perspective on what the people believe or why they believe it. Especially when he is looking at media and taking joe schmoes “america is a failed state” statements as what the majority of people believe. The majority of americans support progressive actions, but a combination of regulatory capture and corrupt politicians who aren’t representative of a majority of their voters means that political decisions made don’t align with what the people want. Besides that the amount of people going “she doesn’t know real corruption because she doesn’t live in south africa, look at her fancy house” is stupid as fuck. Most americans live paycheck to paycheck and are one inconvenience away from losing their job or being evicted or losing their home. Even if she does live in a nice house, it does not invalidate what she has to say. While some of this video is true it just sounds like some ivory tower bullshit.
Besides that, painting the democrats and republicans as the same is completely disingenuous. Republicans use doom gloom and fear to get people to vote for them and then cause the very problems they pretended were the democrats fault. The democrats use fear of the republicans getting power and then do next to nothing when in office but concede and settle somewhere in the middle with the republicans. They don’t cause the problems but they do very little to fix them.
Saved you a click: Our government has been corrupted by legal bribery, our regulatory commissions have been captured, our financial institutions have a gambling addiction, our medical institutions are profit driven, the quality of life for the majority of the population has dropped/stagnated, and the media promotes a culture war.
The America I was sold as an adult (work hard and you shall be rewarded) isn’t the America I grew up with.
It took us moving out for us to actually experience “The American Dream”
That is not what the video was about- except* for promoting the culture war.
