

Seems like the exact oposite thing they should do. If they actually want drivers to slow down and obey the limit they can’t back down. A middle ground option could be offering each vehicle 1 freebie each time camera locations are changed, but regardless, if the camera ticketed you, you were speeding and were breaking the rules. They should be thankful its just an ASE ticket and not a ticket from a cop that comes with higher fines and insurance complications.
These cameras are often installed in areas with heavy pedestrian traffic and a history of injury. I don’t really think shrugging it off as people speed is a good attitude towards public safety. Personally i think making the roads naturally safer through physical traffic calming like lane narrowing would be a better option, but its a significantly more expensive option.
