Presumably LLM’s have already trained on the entirety of human knowledge and communication and still produce buggy information, so I’m skeptical that it’ll work out the way the VC’s expect, but we’ll see.

LLM’s are cool and all, but you can’t use them for anything requiring real precision without allocating human work time to validate the output, unless you want to end up on the national news for producing something fraudulent.

And making it so their image generator can generate porn isn’t going to change that.

A coworker of mine worked in one for a time and loved it. WeWork’s problem was that they inexplicably overpaid for all of the real estate they bought, so other office rental companies (who were managing their finances professionally) were eating their lunch.

And, you know, letting Adam Neumann plunder the company for his own personal gain, which I’m absolutely certain Altman is doing.

Say what you will about us Missourians, but we’re fighting. This definitely going to be fought tooth and nail in court by the Republicans, though, who think they own our state. (And pretty much do.)

I’m proud to have participated in this, and it’s a good reminder that while the Federal Government is lost, you still have some power locally.

My life is a happy one, in part, because of no wife or kids. I wake up on a Saturday in my quiet, clean house and it feels fantastic.

Having enough income from my investments to not have to work and sleeping in every day.

But that’s the story of the Donald presidency. He’s just outwardly doing everything that was already occurring in the shadows.

Thing is, if these men ever decide to travel outside the US, there’s no guarantee another government won’t hold them accountable, like the Israelis that were arrested in Europe earlier this year.

Musk, like all bullies, just doesn’t want any accountability whatsoever. Yes, the amount is trivial given his means, but as we saw in South America, he is perfectly willing to back down when a challenge is meaningful, culturally if not materially.

I’ve seen a meme floating around showing the gunman (I’m not willing to concede they got the right guy) talking about the thousands of insurance approvals that resulted from Brian Thompson’s sacrifice. (Also not willing to call it a murder, because health care CEO’s are mass murderers themselves) Whoever it was that shot him probably saved hundreds of lives.

And it’s wild to think that way, but it’s objectively true.

There’s a part of me that’s ashamed to watch this happening, even though I voted against it.

It’s one thing when an illegal immigrant is caught and deported. It’s another thing entirely when someone in the US legally, who helped our country fight a war (granted, one we should never have started nor fought to begin with) and was promised peace and safety, is outright betrayed and, presumably, intended to be handed over to a murderous regime.

I am not a billionaire nor a federal legislator, so I have no meaningful power to do anything apart from lying to ICE when they knock on my door looking for someone. But, as a human being, it feels important to observe and speak on the injustice here.

I think we all know how this is going to turn out.

We already have a political campaign system that allows candidates to legally loan themselves money and then pay themselves back at 20% interest with your campaign contributions, and both sides do it, so it’s hard for me to imagine this getting much worse. (But, like everything we’ve experienced since 2001, the only constant is it always gets worse no matter who we elect.)

Ten years ago I bought a pack of four canvas shopping bags off of Amazon, and I’ve used them ever since. They’re fantastic. I have one with a small tear that I will sew back up by hand, but by and large they’re awesome quality.
