Trump actually (probably accidentally) made a masterful play in 2020. Democrats spent 4 years shutting down his insane-sounding claims that the election was stolen, and the ‘The election was stolen’ rhetoric became so synonymous with crazy that they couldn’t even question the results in 2024 despite obvious interference, and I think it’s still keeping them from putting up a fight over it now. They’re afraid that all of the republicans will just throw everything they said in 2020 right back at them, as if this situation is even remotely the same thing, and that it will make them look like the crazy ones.

There’ve been quite a few photos circulated of people with guns intermingled into the protests that have happened. It’s much more effective when it’s like, 1 in 100 vs. 100 in 100, though, in my opinion. It gets the point across. Personally, I’d prefer no guns on either side, but if we can’t have that, this is the next best option.

X people in frog costumes with dildos + Y people with guns is more effective than just Y people with guns. Probably much more effective, honestly, because it makes it harder to publicize it as just a violent mob.

I live in one of the bluest states; I actually like our politicians well enough. My district’s house rep in particular has been consistently on the right side of every important vote I’ve checked up on. As a result, though, I don’t exactly have a lot of contact with the crazier part of the population.

The problem is that it says it in the same general section that it talks about how to treat your slaves and things, so it’s really kind of ridiculous to cherry pick this one thing as something we should uphold today while ignoring everything else.

Trust me, literally no one from the US needs a reminder that our health care system sucks. We think about that all the time.

I’m glad the creature collector + sandbox game mashup is becoming a genre; I hope we continue to see it evolve in new ways, though, and not just stagnate in the ‘survival crafting’ archetype. An open-world sandbox game with creature collecting elements doesn’t need those survival crafting parts to be compelling, in my opinion.

Sure, I’m not sure why we’re arguing about backup strategies. My wife is the same way; she’s got two 12 TB externals of just backups for exactly the same reason. You implied that you would need to back up your drives specifically because you’d be installing a new OS; that’s all I was commenting on. You do you.

Presumably you’re backing up important files as a matter of course, not only when installing a new OS…

As a point of interest, you can partition an existing HD, install a new OS on that partition, then when on the newly installed OS, move your files around to the new filesystem and format your old drives / partitions as convenient. Installing a new OS doesn’t need to be a “Backup everything, blow it away and start over” process.

Worth noting that it was also 16% cheaper, as well.

To get a fair comparison, you’d need to poll people who are the same age that you were at the time you’re comparing to. I bet you’ll find that they’re just as into gaming as you were at that age. What’s happening is that you’re getting older, and you aren’t enchanted by the same things that you once were. Basically, this is a ‘Back in my day…’ rant about the ‘good old days’.
