I hear what you’re saying, but also:

I hear what you’re saying, but also:

“Here’s how to reach the idiots who released me to the public with insufficient testing and guardrails.”

I made it as far as “making a decent living, not a huge asshole”.
Obviously, it would be nice to have more/be more, but I count just meeting keeping this up as a win.
I’ll do you one better. Why wolf?

I think the problem is that when a user deletes their own post, everyone else also loses access to the comments under that post.
According to the screenshot, the Lemmy 1.0 update should change it so that only the original post is deleted, but access to the comments is preserved.

Screenshot for the lazy, or who don’t want to/can’t see lemmy.ml threads.

I never got the sense that Xi J (rhymes with CJ) was promising the Chinese people a transition to fully realized communism.
I could be wrong but it seems like the vast majority of Chinese people* are fine with the government as it is, as long as they have stability and decent living conditions.
i.e. not:

To me, evil is when you know the thing you’re doing is morally wrong, you have the option to do anything else (including doing nothing at all) and you do it anyway.
I can make space for people who were trained on bad behavior.
I can make space for people doing the best they can in bad situations.
But I have met people who looked “normal” and could have easily not done the bad thing they were doing to someone else.
When you call them out, some will get defensive. They still have shame.
But the evil ones had this look like a child who knew they were getting away with something. And the something was hurting someone else.

Make it an optional plugin or extension.
That way, the people who actually want and use it still have access, and they’d have access to accurate stats on how many of those people there are.
(Probably not enough to justify spending money on it.)

This looks more like MSPaint than AI.
I ran my finger over this image, but I still couldn’t read it.
Lemmy, am I deaf?

Haven’t seen Doki mentioned yet. It’s the official successor to Kotatsu.

Kotatsu-Redo is a fork by a new guy. At this stage, they’re basically the same, so I’m waiting it out.

It is.
My understanding is that you go to Ironfox to optimize for privacy and Vanadium to optimize for security.
It depends on your threat model.
Either way, both are better on both fronts when compared to default Chrome or Firefox.

Those unhappy have another option: use an AI‑free Firefox fork such as LibreWolf, Waterfox, or Zen Browser.
And I have taken that other option.
Also: Vanadium and/or Ironfox on Android.
Yea, I don’t think we’ll ever be able to disable that kind of thing.
But this addresses at least one of the main concerns people had with allowing quote-posting.
The update is notable because quote posts have historically fuelled negative behaviour on other platforms, where they are often used for public ridicule or so-called “dunking.” (source)
That credit, tho.
"It looks like you’re trying to sign this document.
Would like me to make up bullshit about the 30% of the page I can (sort of) recognize as text?"

When one person stops singing, the curse is passed to someone else, somewhere else in the world.
We just won’t realize until after the nuclear war, when there’s only two people left, passing the song back and forth until they are finally, mercifully taken by the radiation poisoning.
Classic billionaire behavior.
