FTA:

The anti-anti-Trumpers dreamed that their yearslong humiliation of having to run interference for a man they loathed was about to end. Now they must face up to the likelihood of devoting at least the next 15 months, and possibly more than five years, to insisting Trump’s multitudinous crimes are no worse than things done by Joe Biden, Hillary Clinton, Chuck Schumer, and so on.

Who would force them once again into such a mortifying position? Many of the anti-anti-Trumpers have identified the culprit for Trump’s hammerlock on the primary. It is the Democrats.

I dunno - truly, repugnantly awful though he is, Trump seems much more electable nationally than any of the others.

Only because he’s successfully captured the hearts of the Republican base. DeSantis probably could have successfully maneuvered his way into the nomination if he’d waited for Trump to either die or leave politics on way or another. But he got greedy and wasn’t willing to wait for Trump to step aside, and now he’s made himself unelectable at the national level.

We’ll see what this does to his re-election in Florida. I’m not crying at the thought that he could get primaried.
