8 am Wednesday, Florida time. Things are eerily calm and quiet.
These guys will go live around 3p ET today and have a great combined feed of many cameras and other authoritative weather sources. No commercials or corporate sponsors, just a bunch of passionate weather nerds:
Watching now and I added the link to the megathread. Thanks!
Was going to post them too, love their stuff.
They’ve turned me into a weather junkie.
Also, my parents live on Siesta Key, so I do have some personal interest. Thankfully they’ve evacuated to Savannah for this one.
Oh my! Glad they’re out of there. Have you been watching the live stream? Soooo many tornado warnings going off the last hour or so!!!
Yeah, I’ve been glued to their stream all day. This is absolutely insane.
It’s quiet today at work. So I tuned in. Holy moly some of these tornadoes look unpleasant.
Tonight is movie night in Tampa Bay! They are showing “Gone with the Wind” everywhere…
Looks a bit gusty already. Those surfers in Naples probably shouldn’t be in the water much longer unless they plan on windsurfing to the stratosphere
It’s really ridiculous that I keep seeing people who haven’t evacuated yet.
Many people have no where to go, or no means to leave.
I’m not in that region, but if a similar event happened here; there’s only one place I could go besides just being homeless on the road, and that place would likely be impacted too.
Sure, but watch the Naples cam. There’s lots of different people just wandering around the beach. Including families with small children.
Edit: also, I saw a bunch of buses go south on I-75 not too long ago, so hopefully they’re going to try to evacuate some of those people.
Until the storm actually begins to strike the area; theres not much point just hiding inside. Can’t leave, time to kill, I’m sure many public places are closed. May as well wander the beach while the beach is still there.
I mean… you could evacuate.
I’m doing some looking around and, while there don’t appear to have been any in Naples itself, there were evacuation shuttles not too far away yesterday and local transit fees were waived.
I don’t think these are homeless families who missed the buses taking their kids out to the beach.
I mean it’s not like Florida has an idiot shortage. Look who they elected for governor.
Stop looking so hard for victims to blame, Squid.
These people are probably sheltering in place but, again, they have time to kill until the storm falls. Means to leave involves more than just transportation.
Means to leave involves more than just transportation.
Such as what? Because if they had nowhere to go, they would be taken to a shelter where they could get things like food and medical care. Pets are even allowed to come. If nothing else, at least get your kids out of there.
Also, tell me about these impoverished people all living in Naples.

Edit: Let me guess, homeless surfers…
Even more ridiculous that people on the motorway still move in both directions.
To be fair, a lot of the cars going the opposite way on the I-75 look like they’re official vehicles.
Edit: Like I just saw a bunch of buses headed the other way. I’m guessing they’re going to evacuate people.
Very helpful, thank you for sharing this
When’s the main event going to start?
Early Thursday morning.
Ah. I guess I’ll try to remember to check tomorrow then.
I got a screenshot of these idiots just at it was fading out, but I felt the need to share:
Edit: Jesus, now they’re bringing their kids down to the beach. In case you were weren’t aware that there are some dumb fucking people in Florida…
They don’t believe in climate change.
And they don’t believe in hurricanes either.
Trump’s gonna protect them from the libs’ HAARP attacks.I think I just saw a cop standing on the pier tell someone to get off the beach, so hopefully those kids are being taken somewhere else.
Edit: Nope. Still people walking around. And there are pretty big waves at this point.
I guess the kids and animals there are the only ones I really have any feelings of sympathies for at this point.
What’s the likelihood these cameras even stay up?
At what point? There’s a long time between now and landfall. And probably not every camera is going to get destroyed at landfall. But the rain will probably be falling too hard to see anything for a while.
But webcams have certainly lasted through other hurricanes. Remember that many of them are pretty firmly bolted down because they have to be ready for just regular old thunderstorm high winds.
I think it was a storm in NY where I was watching a webcam where this happened: The image was shaking like mad for some time, and suddenly the road rapidly approached the camera…
Low. Very low. Here’s the feed right now:
thanks for posting this. sent the link in my friends group chat and now were all watching it together like some kind of morbid Nintendo Direct, but instead of new games we’re just talking about all the people from the stream who seem to be pretending nothing is wrong
