A unified revolutionary military alliance between ethnic armed organizations (EAOs) and People’s Defence Forces (PDFs) is expected to take shape soon, according to Lieutenant General Baw Kyaw Heh, Deputy Chief of Staff of the Karen National Liberation Army (KNLA).

This is an extremely interesting development to hear of. Currently in Myanmar the only guerilla groups working together are the Chinese-backed three brother alliance who initiated the wildly successful operation 1027. This is speaking of a UNIFIED Military command amongst disparate rebel organizations, something that’s never been done before. I am skeptical, because they all have different agendas, goals, and interests. Nevertheless, if they are able to coordinate attack or defenses, that will result in better battle field results than they’ve seen in recent months.

There is already an existing political alliance between some Ethnic Armed Orgs (EAOs) and the Myanmar’s government in exile National Unity Government (NUG) who fund and loosely control the People’s Defense Forces (PDFs). Some EAOs such as Karens are known to have been providing military training to PDFs which were formed in the aftermath of the coup.
