The left saw has two kinks, but most of the rust is sanding off pretty well with 220 grit. The right one has a slight bend but no sharp kinks, though it has a fair amount of pitting that’s deeper than sandpaper is taking off. I’ll probably continue to restore the right one, but curious if folks think they wouldn’t be functional.
I was able to straighten out the one with the gradual bend — just put it in the vise and bent it over the other way (to nearly straight across!) until it stayed straight. Sharpened up it cuts great, seems to follow a line well.
(The brown is wax coming off.)
Given the amount of work, I’m not sure I’ll attempt the other one though.
Cant save em’ all. Looks good, cleaned up but still has the character with the finish. Glad that one bent back successfully.
