Setting the story on a station allowed the “trekking” to be more psychological and philosophical. Has trekking the stars changed us as much as we’d like to imagine? We’re more open-minded as a result, but where are the limits of tolerance? Where are there still blind-spots? An excellent inversion of the Star Trek formula that builds out the whole “Western, but set-in-space” by playing off of something like Gunsmoke more than Wagon Train or whatever.
