Did whoever checks candidate eligibility just go with Waters’ wild interpretation of the term limits? Feels like this should have started at “no” and had a long shot challenge by Waters to overrule it, but instead the system dicked around until ballots were already out and now the ruling gets messy.
Feels like more of our bureaucratic and legal systems just not being functional due to time constraints and not acting with appropriate preparation or haste.
I mean, yeah, but you can’t trust self interested parties to just limit themselves so they don’t cause problems. He’ll of course claim that he really believed that term of 3 years 11 months is legally different from 4 years. And he was probably banking on the court being scared to upend a race where the ballots were already out.
