I hope that the Harry Potter series outlives Rowling. Yes, it’s an imperfect series that Rowling’s prejudices seeped into, but there is still a lot of good to be found in it. Eventually, Rowling will die and fans will no longer have to worry about supporting transphobia. Some will still say it’s not okay to like Harry Potter, but I hope most people will be able to embrace the series

I hope so but I doubt the stain will ever fully wash off. I’ll always be wondering who is still involved in steering it who was a fellow-traveler of JKR.

If 30 years from now the IP owner makes a Ravenclaw-themed mad-science spin-off series with a trans wizard as the protagonist, then maybe I’ll think it’s salvageable.

She could start a billion dollar anti trans foundation that runs off the proceeds.

Right now she NEEDS all that money. Could be much worse when she is gone and she doesn’t.

So we can hope things will improve but please nobody hold their breath and keep your expectations low.
