But your phone doesn’t have a big hole in it that is practically impossible to waterproof, takes all the grime and dust, randomly breaks for no reason, requires a bunch of additional space and electronics, and all that just so small minority of users can avoid having additional three cm of cable on their meter of cable.
It’s a better experience for everyone, and imperceptibly marginally worse for small percentage of people. I can’t overstate how much having a small extension on a phone cable is a non-issue. The best premium one is like 7 euro, 3 cm long, and weights 9 grams.
Audio jacks are easy and cheap to waterproof, way easier to clean than usb-c ports and way sturdier than usb-c ports (in fact, it’s easier to break a usb-c port due to daily headphone use, while I’ve never broken an audio jack, despite abusing some).

It doesn’t, this logic is based on nothing. People an mass aren’t clinging to their old somehow working headphones that they are using daily for the last 10 years. I’m sure such people exist, they are in a vanishing minority. And in the last decade when the push away from jack was happening, majority already switched to wireless. Which allowed us to have phones that have one less weak point.

You might be an outlier. I worked part time fixing electronics back when we didn’t have BT headphones, broken jack was a number one problem for any piece of electronics that had one. Granted, it was before usb-c so I can’t compare, but what I can assure you, jack is unbelievably fragile, and unless it’s premium quality (so not phones), you can’t make it less so. It gets better for pro electronics, most of those are 6.3 so bigger and beefier.
