It’s also basically destroying Xbox. I’m surprised they’re still offering it.
But sometimes a product comes with free month of gamepass or something, and I don’t fault anyone for using that to game. And if I were going to do that, I’d rather do it on Linux.
For people like me who just adore and love the forza horizon series, it will be the only way to play without windows or repurchasing newer titles on steam. It’s a clear plus in my book. Fuck microslop tho.
Yikes. I don’t play many online games so I am not very knowledgeable on the situation over there. I just used online-fix a few times and it was so horrible I had to buy my second piece of paid software.
If it means I can play Minecraft Bedrock with my normie homies, I’m in for it. Though I can see Microsoft not appreciating an other reason for people to dump the fuck out of Windows.
I think overall it will be good. We already rely on windows dependent games anyway for 90% of the gaming on the platform. So I don’t see why gamepass would be any different than wine or proton.
If we were gonna hold that line, then really we should have been super against having any type of transitional layer as a whole. But I don’t think that’s the right choice because the Linux ecosystem is a minority and you’re not going to get that to change anytime soon by making it actively harder for people to want to jump in. I think that it needs all the help that it can get currently.
meh, i can’t tell if this is good or not
xbox game pass feels like it’s against everything linux stands for
Willingly giving Microsoft money in 2026 is insane tbh

or, you can just pirate and never give money to the antichrist
Tried. Pirating whilst playing online is quite the tricky thing to do without getting banned. :D

Always good to give more access to software. I have no use for it, but I very well could in the future.
… chaos is a ladder.

You could already play minecraft bedrock edition on linux though
Oh dang, its been a few years since I’ve looked into it now. Guess this project isn’t relevant to me at all lmao.
The more accessible the better. Simple as.

Moving away from a proprietary OS to a (mostly) software freedom respecting OS is good. A shame that video games are proprietary.
