Is there anything new and interesting on that site? Otherwise it starts to look like spam. Yes what’s happening with Android is terrible. We already know. Wake us up if there’s a new development. Otherwise either get ready to switch to a new OS or else to start installing apps via adb. Or maybe hope for a backlash after the switchover, but that won’t be known to happen until it’s actually observed. Continuing to gripe before the switchover is looking useless.

Google is gonna get rewarded with increased stock prices if anything. Corporate fucking America loves this type of bullshit strategy And unfortunately, corporate America isn’t going to be caught sleeping. The only people that’ll be caught sleeping are the open source developers. Sad truth of the matter is most people aren’t using apps that are going to be affected by this change.
There’s nothing we can sit here, but do it wait for a viable alternative to come out either through the Graphene OS community or through the Linux phone community. If you’re a developer that’s capable of working on phone hardware, We should do our best to assist in any way we can.
PostmarketOS is our best hope for a Linux phone that has no reliance of Google whatsoever. For those who can’t code, donating toward to them (if you have the means) would be very helpful in combating the dystopia Google is pushing
Develop new phone hardware? That’s doomed eg Purism and Pine64. OEM Graphene or LineageOS phones and jailbreaks of existing phones are more promising. Or just give up on smartphones and separate computers from phones like earlier.
OEM graphene is literally making new phone hardware for a specific OS to run on. Agreed, they are probably the most promising project.
So why is Graphene so demanding on hardware? Regular Android runs on billions of lesser phones. Other than the stupid issues around stuff like device drivers, is it enough to run something like LineageOS if you were previously satisfied with a de-junked Android? I’d take a budget phone with Lineage over a flagship phone with Graphene for sure.
