    I’ve had at least three jobs that are always listed as more dangerous than a cop, but I’ve never gone around demanding respect because “I risk my life with every shift.”

    How risky is a cop’s job, really? They have the full force of the entire government on their side, and an arsenal on their waist, and an even bigger arsenal in their vehicle. With a quick click on the radio, and they have a nearly unlimited army who will come to their aid, all armed to the teeth as well, and willing to back any cockamamie story he tells.

      You kinda answer your own question; those are the exact reasons why it’s not that dangerous these days.

      That aside, nobody backing you up can teleporter, so cops act like they’re on their own until backup arrives - because they are.
