    Why is it SNAP eligible? This is what happens when we just pay out without regulating it, whereas Medicare does negotiate prices. It’s the same with student loans+tuition.

      If you make enough that you get SNAP/EBT, you’re already not living your best life.

      Just let the mfer have a candy bar. God damn

      It’s eligible because it’s food. It prevents starvation. Plus it’s hard to micromanage what poor people eat. On top of that, poor grandmas with diabetes can use it to prevent a coma if their sugar is dangerously low.

      In Texas, candy bars aren’t eligible. Neither are soft drinks, including uncaffeinated diet drinks, but ice cream, cake, pies, and chocolate milk are still eligible for now. But they’re planning to take that away from poor people too. Also “luxury” meats like steak.

      After that I imagine they plan to make poor people eat out of dirty buckets filled with offal and rotting vegetables.
