You are still required to provide a source for famous people and politicians. Here are the options that I know of that are left.

Please, if you know of any others, provide them in the comments. The next couple of months are going to be hell if we don’t do this.

I should preface this by saying i never used xcancel and assumed it was one of those sites that let you browse twitter without communicating directly with their servers. Sorry for wasting your time if that’s entirely off base.

Instead of a single website, build an application where users can scrape and share posts/profiles/feeds with each other. You can minimize load on a given user by distributing requests to all users who have the content and are willing to share. That way, it’s harder for them to break whatever you’re reading twitter for since they have to go after more people who may not even be in a jurisdiction their lawyers can influence. Like torrenting, but for social media instead of … linux distributions.

XCancel is actually one instance of many that was running the Nitter software, so it was pretty close to what you were describing. People could run it themself, or pick the specific server that they wanted (ex. One closer to them).

Unfortunately, the software project itself got shut down: https://nitter.net/

I imagine we’ll see forks on other code repositories soon enough.

I’m not techy, that would be awesome though. We just use xcancel to veiw someone’s video and/or profile if it’s featured here. We sometimes get fabricated tweets posted by famous people or politicians. It’s not usually the poster’s fault, since it could be a repost from somewhere else.
