From a catery. Can’t help but wonder if the breeders are irresponsible and inbreeding their cats.

unfortunately being a maine coone its likely to be bred this way on purpose, from an unethical breeder/backyard. having polydactyl abnormality increases the cats chances of other genetic defects, like heart, skeletal issues. an ethical breeder wont try to breed a cat with polydactylism.

I just hope that the cat will be able to walk comfortably with all of those toes. If not, it may require surgery to remove some.

Apparently it was born with a respiratory infection or some lung issue. Sad to see them start out unhealthy.

I have 2 cats. One is from a catery. My cousin bought him and then didn’t want him anymore.

He is a seal point Siamese. He’s certainly gorgeous. But he also has hip dysplasia. And an eye problem where one eye doesn’t align with the other. And he seems to be farsighted. (Can’t see up close very well but can see farther away).

I love him but I think. Why would anyone intentionally breed animals knowing that they have a high risk of health problems.
He will always be unhealthy. Always have a disability.

He can’t jump up. I had to put cat stairs everywhere for him. I don’t mind but I know he’s in pain. I know he has bad days. I know he struggles to play because he can’t see the toy up close. He has been deprived of a healthy life because someone thought his coloring was more important than his quality of life.

Idk. It just makes me sad sometimes when I think about it.
