A giant evil chain put up an enormous obviously AI banner to celebrate 20 years of running small business out of town in Santa Clarita, California, a comparatively small city north of Los Angeles.

Is Walmart evil for another reason than just their size and hate of corps?

Walmart is the original Amazon and the poster child for corporate welfare. They have a long history of coming into a town and undercutting the prices of all the local businesses then doing monopoly things when they are the only ones left. Then they did the same thing again in the 90s and 2000s when they added groceries to all their formerly department style stores. At one point in time instructions on how to apply for food stamps were part of the onboarding process when you got a job there. The Waltons, the family that inherited Walmart from their father/grandfather, are just as insufferable as any other rich family.

Mhhhh, seems like grandfathered in hate from 20 years ago, but fair enough. To be fair to them: I would expect all budget grocers/stores to be just as bad.

After 10 years other people are working there. It’s not a person after all.

And you tend to have to buy your stuff somewhere after all. No consumption is no option.
