Trumps’s order affects the U.S. Geographic Names Information System (GNIS), which sets the standards for official U.S. maps.

Google Maps has changed the name of “Lake Ontario” to “Lake America” for U.S. users to reflect President Donald Trump’s executive order renaming the lake, according to a Google statement.

Trump announced on Thursday that he was changing the name ‌of the smallest of the five Great Lakes, part of an escalating trade feud with Canada that has prompted the two countries to impose reciprocal tariffs on billions of dollars in goods.

The president’s order affects the U.S. Geographic Names Information System (GNIS), which sets the standards for official U.S. maps. It does not have any impact on Canadian naming conventions or how the rest of the world refers to the lake.

I gave mapquest a chance because of this. I loved the UI but Sadly they had the restaurant I wanted to go to marked on the wrong building. Fuck google. To all the laid off Google map devs please use your skills to help make an alternative.

They should label it “Lake America” (with the quotes) below the border line, and Lake Ontario (without any quotes, and maybe in a bigger font) above it.

I wonder what it feels like to wield enough power to force a 4.22 trillion dollar company to bend the knee?

Keep sucking that orange shriveled pecker, Pichai. We see you.

Canada should announce that they’ve changed the names of all the Great Lakes to Canadian names, like Lake Toronto, and Lake Ottawa. Make sure there’s a Lake Saskatchewan, because there is no way Trump can read or pronounce it, so that will really piss him off. Maybe he’ll painfully stroke out and croak, and we can all read about it the Big Beautiful Obituary.

It’s important to remember that Google was not required in any shape or form to make this change. They simply decided that they’d prefer to continue sucking Trump’s mushroom cock and make the change.

Stop using Google products. Also, remember this, if the fascists ever lose power. Remember that they were happy and excited to jump in bed with the fascist pedophiles, because they’ll likely try to bury their actions during this administration and try to appeal to whoever is in power afterwards.

I thought I was being paranoid dropping Google like a hot dog turd around 2018, but everything they’ve done since then has made me glad I’m no customer of theirs for the most part.

Yup. I was a massive Google fan. I dropped them over a decade ago.
