The Pentagon is seething over a Washington Post report that top military leaders recently warned Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth against extending large-scale Iran war operations.
People familiar with a classified assessment prepared for Hegseth told the Post that several combatant commanders have advised the Defense chief that prolonging operations against Iran is unsustainable and risks weakening the U.S.’s ability to address threats elsewhere, including on U.S. soil.
The warnings appear in the Aug. 14 edition of the Secretary of Defense Orders Book (SDOB), detailed by the heads of the Army, Navy and Air Force, and the four-star commanders overseeing U.S. operations throughout Europe, Asia and Latin America, the Post reported Sunday.

A big difference with this bullshit is that it’s not really being fought as a war. These chucklefucks thought they could just go in, drop some bombs, fire some missiles, and that Iran would capitulate for some reason.
So it’s not even the full might of the US military, it’s just firing and depleting expensive ranged weapons and wondering why you aren’t getting the outcomes you wanted.
I mean, that is what the us have done since Korea to some degree. Its not like they “won” Afghanistan or Iraq or Vietnam or really any not war wars.
This sounds like the same sort of cope you hear about russia “not yet sending the real troops yet”. I mean, this is the full might of the us military. They can’t even put boots on the ground (they would get chewed up), have run out of a lot of munitions, lost all bases anywhere near by and are failing to even properly supply and rotate out the naval forces in theater. Out side of glassing the middle east what do you expect them to do? Build escort ships? The us can’t wage conventional war worth shit anymore.
But it shouldn’t even be close for the money we’ve spent. Bush’s little adventure cost $15T.
I, an absolutely under-informed commenter, tend to agree. My impression is that the U.S. military is a pretty fearsome beast whose specific civilian leaders at the moment are witless, corrupt fools. If competent leadership were interested in the results this administration said they would get, it could presumably be done. Or at least something roughly approximating it.
Besides leadership you also need to account for the fact that, for better or worse, WW2 & 9-11 united both military and civilian logistics against a commom goal with international support. It made for brutal efficiency anywhere on the planet and gave rise to all the memes we know of now.
By contrast, this orange shitstain has fucked the economy, civilians, geopolitics, and most importantly the international logistics to project that military power in a way that isn’t a complete embarrassment. Even if a competent progressive leader replaced him, this can’t be fixed in a single term either and that is by intentional design of the Heritage Foundation that instructs Trump’s actions under the derangement.
I mean the us won one of those conflicts sure… not sure you want to be talking about the “success” of the war on terror…
