Once the “AI” industry leaves the subsidized-use stage this all falls over. Once users have to pay the actual energy and overhead costs per token “AI” use is gonna plummet.
- AI integration into business processes.
- Steal business processes and trade secrets.
- Destroy decision-making capability.
- Destroy production capability and capacity to deliver value and banish institutional knowledge (through layoffs)
- Replace incumbent market-leaders with like-for-like services, while destroying their ability to compete and also charging them for the privilege.
I think that’s possible for some industries, particularly office bound areas like software and finance. Manufacturing, mining, maintenance, logistics, etc. all require human hands and minds 24/7, regardless of what marketing wanks say.
For game development you probably do not need that. Stable diffusion runs on normal graphics cards, and when 3D asset generation becomes more useful it will transform game development.
7 out of the top 10 token vendors are from China too who have much cheaper energy / nuclear. In like 4 years they’ll bring their own advanced chips to market and crash the costs.
So both is still a bit off but especially game development will become completely transformed once we have better suited models for that and something like a “universal game engine” for advanced AI generated games. I’d say finally the end of micro transactions but probably you’ll buy AI tokens to allow you crafting your custom gear for an RPG lol.
Tarn looks like the kind of guy to already have ai psychosis for 20 years, but really it was The Long Wait
Why does he look like Colin Farrell going method for an upcoming role?
This is a feature not a bug for massive corporations, do not fall into the trap of thinking that because the collapse these corporations cause hurts the corporations themselves it means that in the end the wasteland left behind that they can consolidate and buy up isn’t beneficial for them.
Demoralize the worker until they lose their will to fight, and to can humiliate and abuse them for the rest of time.
More excitingly, DF is about to get a huge magic system update that I’m really looking forward to.
Hype!!!
They are all suffering the Eliza Effect and betting that when it becomes sufficiently advanced enough like Personal Computers, they just need that killer app, but if they are smart enough they will realize that there isn’t a there there and the first one to yell out “The Emperor Has No Clothes” and the Hyperscalers market and circular funding that is keeping the US Economy from crashing will crash.
This is good news imo. This just means more independent studios and less AAA trash. I gave up on AAA games years ago. There’s no innovation or care put into their games, it’s all about extracting as much money as possible from players.
Iv got my assets out of the market and into basic living staples, when the economic dam brakes I expect devistation.
This is a game I have been wanting to check out for years. Maybe this is the nudge I need, I added it to my wishlist at least now.
It is a unique piece of art. I’m glad, although not surprised, that the creator wants to keep it that way.
I highly recommend it. It’s a challenge to learn, but it’s a game that really rewards time investment. Failing and losing a settlement is all part of the fun.
