In ‘The Amazing Adventures of Kavalier and Clay’ the author mentions tons of minor heroes who ran as second features in The Escapist. All we know about Unum is that he’s a super scientist. His name comes up twice. The second time he is fighting the evil ‘Smarty’ Pants, who has brought the Statue of Liberty to life. Unum stops her with a giant Clark Gable robot.
There’s no description of how Unum looked. I picture him as wearing a tricornered hat and a lab coat. A gun belt with a Colt .45 revolver and a ray gun. Engineer boots and jodhpurs. A cross between Ben Franklin and Doc Savage.
I went to ComicCon as E. Pluribus Unum, the Scientific American, and not one person recognized me!
