You’re right, after I posted I remembered Picard telling Q he was “sick of his bullshit”. Didn’t realise there was much more. But “Shit” seems less offensive than “Fuck”, so maybe that still counts as toning down the swearing, even if there was more of it? 🤷
Silly language critiquing aside, I do remember season 1 feeling much gloomier than the subsequent ones.
Okay, I’m convinced, if anything they upped their swearing game. Especially since they still pulled out an F-bomb for “fucking solids” in season 3, which I really should have remembered. Solid data gathering!
Just did a grep of the scripts. There were fewer instances of the word “fuck” after season 1, but many more instances of the word “shit”.
