This has already happened. The Walking Dead was a massive phenomenon. It just atrophied due to neglect.
… And then netflix will cancel it when it takes some time to become popular and instead produce more reality competitions edited to maximize drama at the cost of a coherent understanding of how the competition is going. And even for action shots, it’s like they are editing to show off how many angles they are shooting rather than selecting the best shots to show out of all the angles they have.
Image Comics will be sometime soon. Youngblood, Spawn, they’re all so amazing, I like them all so much more than marvel characters and I’m a big marvel fan. They tried spawn back in the day but I think they botched the movie pretty hard and the HBO animated series just didn’t do the og content justice.
Edit: Also, DRAGONLANCE by Margaret Weis and Tracy Hickman. Can’t believe Amazon picked up Wheel of Time instead of Dragonlance. For those of you unfamiliar with the series, it’s a high fantasy classic dungeon and dragons story. Some call it “The DnD bible”. There’s a core 6 books and then 190 additional novels - I remember going into book stores and there being an entire wall of these guys. With such a huge cult following I really can’t understand why this hasn’t been picked up.

Your personality is so much an amalgamation of the last 100 long form media you’ve consumed. Make good choices, an English teacher that actually cared once told me books are important for what they make you think, not what they say. I still reread some of my old series like I’m visiting friends and refreshing core memories.
We choose who we are to a degree, are you a wizard cop that upholds the status quo (including slavery and racism) or a rebel with friends everywhere? Is winter coming or are you coming to the hanging tree?
What ideas and ideals have you internalized intentionally or unintentionally? How do you think the world works or who we’re supposed to be been influenced by the movies you’ve seen, the news you read and watch?

Only mostly. Obviously there are a shitton of productions studios prioritizing profit over all else, so they will always gravitate toward “safe” options like reboots and sequels and ripoffs.
But then occasionally you get a movie like Obsession, which was made for less than $1 million, and is actually reasonably unique. Or Flow, which was made for €3.5 million using open source graphics software, and is also unique.
Just because Hollywood mostly runs on regurgitated slop, doesn’t mean there aren’t successful movies which are more art than commercial.
For anyone wanting to get into screenwriting and filmmaking, this is this is the key. An excellent story made cheaply is the way to get new IP to market. Hollywood is much more willing to take a risk when it doesn’t cost them much.

Yeah, as long as you can make money off something people will try and cash in on low effort slop. No technology will change this.
Game of Thrones basically already fits. The main book series might not finish, and the main TV show disappointed people, but the world GRRM built is spawning all sorts of spinoff stories. Who’s to say what happens after he eventually dies and loses control over the franchise?
