Along with a second, “shield-apay-cash-wdp-device-prod.pci.prod.apay.apple.com.v.aaplim g.com”. Seems strange and didn’t notice it in my NextDNS logs until recently.

So went into “Wallet & Apple Pay” in Settings and turned off, Live Activities, assuming it’s there’s a possible connection. No new cards in it, same old same old stuff.

Has anyone else experienced this before and can comment? Appreciate any feedback as I’m sick as a dog today.

Both of those are Apple’s own infrastructure (aaplimg.com is Apple’s CDN/edge domain), so it isn’t a third party phoning home. The “apay-cash” part suggests the Apple Cash / Wallet side doing a periodic device check-in, which can happen as long as Wallet/Apple Pay is set up on the device, even if you don’t actively use Apple Cash.

If you want to know which feature triggers it, NextDNS makes that easy: block just that domain for a day and see what breaks (card refresh in Wallet, Apple Cash balance, transit cards). If nothing you use breaks, you can leave it blocked; if Wallet starts complaining, you know what it was for.

    Hope you feel better soon.

Thank you for the idea, I’ll try your idea! And I’ll try updating you and the topic, incase anyone else has a similar problem and wants to know. Blocking it now!

And, apologies for getting back 4 days late, the heatwave here in LA made recovery and staying cool a nightmare lol. 🫠
