Every 100,000 immigrants lost to the UK costs the treasury £7bn, according to the Office for Budget Responsibility
Why do right-wing charlatans want to make us all poorer?
Why do right-wing charlatans want to make us all poorer? Because they hate life
They can’t take other people being happier than they are.
The millennials I knew who are sympathetic to the far right and vulnerable to their propaganda both had unresolved trauma. Instead of working on themselves, it’s easier to just blame it on the immigrants and brown people trying to impose sharia law. I see the same dynamics in my family (sooo much generational trauma). If we weren’t brown, I could see a lot of them turning to the far right. They cope with their misery and trauma by trying to drag everyone else down with them.
There are people out there, many people out there, who cannot seem to derive their own happiness from life unless it is done through the subjugation of others. Power, Control, Respect - primal tribal metrics of success that we’re all susceptible to as soon as we get any inkling of it.
If you truly do not respect someone, worship them as a god until they believe that whatever small advantage they have through their dice roll of life was bestowed upon them by the universe as a result of their actions. It’s hard not to sniff your own farts and see others as ants when people keep telling you how great you are
They’re all miserable.
I have a theory that they hate gays/trans folk because they’re repressed and are angry they can’t live their best lives.
They are repressed, but not (necessarily) because they’re secretly queer. Patriarchy requires men to repress their emotions and their empathy, and it requires women to repress their joy and passion. So of course they’re dysphoric at being stuck in a gender role where they can’t cultivate a hobby to infodump about or where they can’t cry or cuddle when their soul still wants those things.
Poor people are too busy worrying about how to feed their families to worry about what the people in power are doing.
That’s a feature, not a bug.
