OK now I need to ask: what is it with Gowron that makes him so meme-worthy (even if that isn’t Gowron in the pic)?

I know a fair bit of Star Trek lore - but not all. Maybe he re-appeared in DS9? That’s the one I haven’t watched much of.

Edith: I thank you for all the explantions, even those that try to make me watch DS9.

He’s got a goofy look. It was later discovered that the actor basically took it too far and intentionally overly opened his eyelids for every damn take. That commitment to being on the trek spectrum earned the character lifetime membership onto the internet.

Mind you, Gowron was a bit extra so it really fits the character. I’m not sure if the Klingon Empire produced cocaine but if they did he’d be one of its main consumers.

          Best answer so far!

apart from what the other comment said, yes, there is a lot more of him in ds9. and ds9 is one of the best treks, so if you haven’t seen it, i almost envy you the chance to see it for the first time. except for the unfortunate question of technical quality, which really is not up to today’s standards.
