I’ve seen grown adults in pickup trucks harassing and ridiculing high school kids who walked out to protest ICE. And not as some scandalous anomaly, everyone received it as roughly normal, and it wasn’t a one-off either.

It is hard to maintain a commitment to virtue and justice here. Of course it must be done, but the constant social pressure not to, even just directed at children - it’s wild. It’s a thick, suffocating blanket of ignorance and hate.
