I think both Bilbo and Frodo went on their adventure when they were way into their 50s.
Bilbo was 50 at the start of the quest for Erebor.
Frodo was only 31 when he left the Shire.
We say that the brain is done developing around 25, but I don’t really consider anyone “sensible” until they’re 30.
I wasn’t really truly sentient until I was like 35.
