That’s not an ad, it’s a promotion. To be an ad it’d have to be another party playing for that to be displayed.
Wikipedia is probably the only thing that was successful on the internet and didn’t turn evil.
Stop whining about ONE add, and solve your problem.
Step one: install add blocker. Step two donate to wiki.
These aren’t even ads. They’re community announcements. There’s no ad on Wikipedia.

Wiki leadership have gone all corporate lately. They won’t recognise a workers union and seem to be moving to a more authoritative admin.
They have tons of money and enjoy a throne on information distribution. Sounds a bit like the church when I say it like that.
I have a an automatic $2/mo donation to Wikipedia set up. Of all of the sites I’m more than willing to support with hard currency, it’s the one.
$2 isn’t much, but if we all do it, it’ll keep the best online resource for general information we have on the planet operating. Very worth it.
