  • I disagree, rising just means increasing, which is factual, and they present plenty of evidence to support this in the article.

The attack comes amid a surge in antisemitic violence in Australia, home to the largest proportion of Holocaust survivors outside of Israel. It is Australia’s worst mass shooting in three decades, a rare occurrence in a country with one of the lowest rates of gun-related deaths in the developed world.

The rise in antisemitic attacks in the country began after the October 7, 2023 massacre and Israel’s offensive in Gaza. In May 2024, one of Australia’s largest and oldest Jewish schools in Melbourne was spray-painted with the phrase “Jew die.” In a series of incidents in October 2024, a Jewish‑owned bakery in Sydney was defaced with antisemitic graffiti, two men set fire to a brewery near Bondi Beach, and a kosher deli was deliberately set on fire.

One of the most serious incidents occurred this past July, when about 20 worshipers attending a Shabbat dinner at the East Melbourne Hebrew Congregation “were forced to evacuate through a rear exit after a man poured flammable liquid on the front door and set it alight,” as reported by Time.

When you have places of worship in Australia being set on fire and mass shootings resulting in the death of 15 people, it sounds pretty similar to some of the darkest and most shameful moments in U.S. history packed into just a few years. Definitely not something to casually brush off.

Ignoring hate crimes against any group doesn’t make them go away, it just normalizes them and emboldens people to keep carrying them out.

  • I think the domestic violence just goes hand in hand with the need to control and believing accountability doesn’t apply to them. Honestly, the porn preferences wouldn’t even matter except, they’re also so obsessed with playing normality police to everyone else, to the point of ruining other people’s lives and threatening anyone that dares to point out their hypocrisy.

If it’s consensual, whatever, that’s your business, and I’d prefer not to know. However, you make it everyone’s business when you and your buddies keep projecting hang ups about your own fetishes via your harmful policies. If you’re that bothered by your own desires, unpack that shit in therapy instead of fucking up the lives of complete strangers who haven’t done anything to deserve your wrath.

  • Trying not to think about the fact that Christmas is somehow 10 days away, my bare minimum student loan payment is 5 days away, but I don’t get paid again for another 15 days. Then rent is due the day after that, and it’s most of my paycheck, which pretty much immediately puts me back to where I am now, and groceries are somehow more and more expensive every time, and I get to ring in 2026 knowing best case scenario for the new year is that this neverending cycle continues once I get paid again at the end of January and repeat the same thing until 2027.

But I also know how privileged we are just to have a few small things under the tree for my kid, not to mention having a roof over our heads, and not having to worry about Nazis trying to kidnap my family members and split us apart every time we risk stepping outside, or being murdered in drone strikes that suddenly rain down from above from out of nowhere for absolutely no fucking reason.

Merry Christmas and Happy Birthday, Jesus! Are we great again?

  • Pete Hegseth explaining we lose to China every time. The guy who fucking lies about everything in the administration who fucking lies about everything.

The guy who did a tour of Europe a few months ago essentially telling our allies they will have to defend themselves because the U.S. won’t be dragged into another war.

Then committed a bunch of war crimes against civilians to drag us into yet another “war” because obviously we’re trying to plunder a bunch of oil and resources (just like the Bush administration, but even lazier story telling).

The guy who works for the administration that keeps telling us we will have to accept a surveillance state and losing even more civil rights and liberties for our own good, (just like the Bush administration, but even lazier story telling), because it’s imperative we win the “AI race” against China.

China, the “greatest threat to our freedom,” (even though we sold them the surveillance tech that enabled them spy on their citizens, which in turn helped them gain the lead in the “AI race,” which is allegedly why we now have to give up our freedom and accept our own surveillance state in the U.S. Because losing the “AI race” to China is unacceptable), wins every time we try to help defend Taiwan. So I guess we just can’t risk helping defend the people we said we would help. Once again.

The last thing I want is a bunch of war hungry NeoCons dragging us into another war, but it looks like that’s happening anyway.

So I find this “admission” from Hegseth suspicious, and I believe this is just a way to preemptively lay the groundwork so that once China does what we all know they’re going to try to do, and once Russia does what we all know they’re going to try to do, the fucking “department of war,” is going to have to be hands off because we can’t involve ourselves in the fucking war… Even if it’s to defend our allies against our own “greatest threats.”

Meanwhile we’re too busy to even try to help our allies, because we’re fighting a hot war we created by picking a fight against somebody weaker than us, and losing a made up “AI race” in the new Cold war. Which we also created as an excuse to hand over insane surveillance capabilities to the U.S. and Chinese governments, so that oligarchs in both countries could get richer helping their governments destroy civil liberty.

  • Then there’s this episode where she finally gets physical evidence of the paranormal. So she contacts a bunch of prominent scientists and arranges for them all to come to the autopsy bay to reveal this invisible man.

She gets so fucking pumped and excited, but then when she pulls out the table his body has disappeared and she has nothing!

And she just kind of stammers “Well, he is invisible…” then unsuccessfully gropes around for him while they silently judge her and she dies a little inside.

  • Reminds me of this https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lia_radiological_accident

If you ever find an inexplicably warm object in the middle of the snowy wilderness, don’t cuddle up with it no matter how tempting it may be.

The Lia radiological accident began on December 2, 2001, with the discovery of two orphan radiation sources near the Enguri Dam in Tsalenjikha District in the country of Georgia. Three villagers from Lia were unknowingly exposed. All three men were injured, one of whom eventually died. The accident was a result of unlabeled radioisotope thermoelectric generator (RTG) cores which had been improperly dismantled and left behind from the Soviet era.

They ate dinner and had a small amount of vodka, while remaining close to the sources. Despite the small amount of alcohol, they all vomited soon after consuming it, the first sign of acute radiation syndrome (ARS), about three hours after first exposure. Vomiting was severe and lasted through the night, leading to little sleep. The men used the sources to keep them warm through the night, positioning them against their backs,

Two days after exposure, on December 4, patient 2-MG visited a local doctor but did not mention the mysterious heating source, and the doctor assumed he was drunk.

  • Not sure why you would see it as a bleak quote then? To me it’s kind of refreshing to be reminded that none of this is as scary as “we’re supposed to believe,” because none of it is actually unique or new.

I legitimately can’t think of a single scary authoritarian in all of history, who wasn’t driven by the fragile ego of their inner child, and reenacting their own trauma by projecting it on to everyone else via controlling behavior.

The what the fuck moments are a feature, not a bug. Reality has essentially become an increasingly absurd haunted house we’re all being forced to walk through, and it only exists because for some reason people keep falling for the jump scares instead of breaking the 4th wall to fuck with the minds of the actors “creating reality.”

  • This bleak world is the reality they wanted to create. So don’t let them. Preemptively create the reality based world you want to live in and project that reality out to the rest of the world through your own actions.

The whole world needs to understand (iffin they don’t already) that abusive cult leaders are constantly attempting to preemptively create the reality of tomorrow, not today. They pretend they have authority to do something they’re not supposed to do, then do it anyway.

So why not preemptively create the reality where civilization pushes back? Why not preemptively create the reality where these men are held accountable by society?

When you’re stuck living under a mentally ill abusive authority figure, sometimes it’s in your best interest to think like them.

That doesn’t mean you should have the thoughts of an abusive crazy person. It means you should know the ins and outs of how they think, what their next action will likely be, and strategize your own actions accordingly. This is also where a lack of empathy can be exploited as their weakness and your strength. By confusing empathy with sympathy, they lack the ability to truly think about what their enemy is thinking. Including what their enemy is thinking about what they’re thinking.

Learning how to walk on eggshells is a survival strategy, but eventually you have to realize it’s not your fault when the eggs break. It’s the fault of the abusive authoritarian forcing you to walk on eggshells. They plan on the eggs breaking one way or the other. They just enjoy watching you tiptoe in fear, and they expect that you’ll keep trying to break as few as possible and believing you have no other choice.

Stripping away agency is what authoritarians always set out to do. You have to remember you always have a choice, they just want you to believe your only option is to keep tiptoeing.

One could argue that’s a delusional or crazy strategy, but I think that’s probably based on a false assumption (most normal people understandably have) that we’re all currently living in a sane world controlled by sane actors.
