Technology@lemmy.world•Apple hit with a $5.7 billion verdict for alleged patent infringementEnglish
36·2 days agoLet’s be real , this is apple that we are speaking about… The won’t add a fckin fingerprint scanner on you phone along side the face unlock, will shove through your throats the bugged Vibecoded slop of an os that ios liquid glass is with an eternity of bugs and also the Latest Mac OS Golden Gate, WIL NOT allow you to side load apps or even install one unless they are pain, Will take a fortune of your wallets to even give u a developer certification for the IOS softwares and MOST funny thing of ALL , WILL skip any major updates on hardware let alone their sloppy software after an entire goddarm years wait instead wasting time and revenue over some trivial sht as this patent.
The entire idea of this closed source nature needs to be overcome, don’t think I am some android fan guy as i criticize their latest acts as well , they are following apple as well in their footsteps… At this point…the only thing which I loved the most important thing of Apple, ecosystem integration along with fine tuned software seems to be vanishing…WHY would someone even consider them now? Reason: no one else comes close to them yet … despite all these factors nothing comes close to them…MacOS bs linux isn’t a question yet … because sadly again arm systems of Linux are vastly in development…and their is no perfect widescale foss alternative to ios yet…
But one day we will outgrow them …WE WILL

111·2 days agoBelieve it or not that’s a reflex working on both sides. The dog is conditioned to copy the same as it is taught and the human is conditioned to think that the dog leaning on him means he would scratch em somehow. Either ways one thing’s for sure , they are all real cute for pets and more like a family ☺️

Linux@lemmy.world•Need help from users to volunteer testing of his digital wellbeing softwareEnglish
3·3 days agoScreenGuard is a digital wellbeing software which incorporates the features like monitoring per application usage and total system usage for per day and stores it in a database and also allows you to limit application usage per day or a certain set of application while in focus mode. I started this in early -mid june to make a normal screen time monitoring application to stop myself from over using social media and to know when I need a break. However ever since I have been adding to it , and aim to make this a alternative to digital wellbeing which is present in android.

2·3 days agoThe commit has been fixed with the correct commit name , i confirmed from my local pc where I do the primary lifting that I had stashed the bug fixes and that was actually supposed to be the first beta commit. Either ways everything addressed HAS been fixed and I am currently adding another commit to both branches immediately with mention of clear ai EXTENT meaning how much ai and which ai was used to do it exactly. To the very TOP OF THE README

Where as the commit which you must be referring to is the commit https://github.com/adityakrishnan005-a11y/ScreenGuard/commit/fc216df30941f77324d7007d9351a51fbb3624a9 which is latest only in main branch…the latest commit of repository is the one given above… Either ways the issue which you are speaking about , someone else has also stated that, and I have also reasoned the possible cause of the wrong commit name and message…will fix it soon although

13·5 days agoAnd about the common issue u say , will it be maintained regularly? I have had only 11 stars on GITHUB honestly…and yet there u can see 2 new beta releases in the beta branch in a difference of about 7-8 days. This is because it’s a project of personal interest and i WILL have to improve it if I want to use it…there is no substitute to this in the community right now i believe and u must know that as well. Also creating the BETA branch and not pushing beta updates to repository IS the correct approach because these are under testing and i am testing it on my own device and VMS but actual devices with defferent environments will be a better test and hence this request.
Pushing to the repository (custom repository of apt and aur ) means that whenever people run sudo dnf upgrade or sudo apt upgrade they get the beta version installed
NOTE: I HAVE MENTIONED THAT THE UPDATES WILL NOT BE PUSHED TO THE CUSTOM APT AND ARCH AND COPR repositories , but you can always have a look at the codebase, just switch to beta branch , both versions are there

24·5 days agoOk improving the extent of llm usage, should have done it from before given my previous experience but thanks and u can go on ahead and confirm that the project is not vibe coded with the code of both the branches, main as well as beta, and the code is fully public sir which part is exactly not public i mean if that part can be cleared I will fix that as well
Currenttly changing the post body here to improve transparency regarding llm usage, i have added it everywhere else.
The initial commit btw is only the initial commit of GitHub , i had been working on this project for a long while and was NOT accustomed to GIT usage much as a result the code base is so huge. Once I brushed up on git i initialise the repository and uploaded the repo publicly. It’s not AI generated sir.
Thank you so much again for pointing out the fatal issues and yes the bug fixes commit u are saying, ok I will look into it and if there is no change in codebase then change it to readme update commit message, but I can assure that there must be some reason I committed that with the bug fixes name , probably I might have left the bug fixes in stash and forgotten to pop it …and commited only the README change by mistake. Once again Thanks a lot

Self Hosted - Self-hosting your services.@lemmy.ml•Trying to control my screen time using this Digital wellbeing software
2·15 days agoGlad you asked because it was not enough for me…let me give you 3 important reasons:
- Gnome wellbeing doesn’t have per app limits enforcer and per app usage
- focus mode (with pomodoro upcoming in next version u can check beta) not present which locks out selected apps like android
- this aims to be a digital wellbeing application integrating all android features + more in the long run, so in the next few years or so with the help of the community i aim to make it into full fledged digital wellbeing with parental controls etc and also extend to othe DEs like kde etc
I made this app from personal feeling of missing out features
Thank you 😊

111·17 days agoPlease feel free to contribute as this project needs several more improvements and doing it alone is a long tedious process…so if you feel that it’s worth it do contribute as I don’t want to contaminate the code base by using llm for code base and adding any code…it’s the philosophy of this project: AI for basic debugging or assistance only
