It’s been around for like 2 years now I believe. There was a bit of hype about it when it first came out since he’s a popular influencer but it didn’t get many to actually sign up for the $50 a year subscription. I do know people did the on time purchases of some individual wallpapers though. As to why, I think he is too into the Apple ecosystem of everything being a subscription that he forgets that most people can’t afford nonsense.
Our schools lunch guy fell so hard into this to the point he quit in the days before the date to stand outside the school all day with a sign warning us of whats to come. Great guy with a good heart but wow did those pastors on that radio station have a grip on him.
Not much to this for most people unless you did buy any of the wallpapers made by artists on there when it had its inital hype. If you did, best to download and back those up ASAP
I haven’t posted on reddit in a while but my last post was to my local cities alt subreddit about the a transit situation (that is still ongoing months later and people still post almost daily about being stranded) and got my post removed for saying I don’t care about upvote karma in the comments replying to someone saying I was farming karma to post in the main city subreddit lol. I don’t get why people care so much about internet fantasy points on a site that’s mostly anonymous.
Yes. It used to be a healthy 80-20 of seeing content I’m subscribed to, but the last month or so it’s been reversed.
To add with this as well there are a lot of subreddits I seem to not be able to see comments on if it’s a newer thread but it will gladly show me content from 3 weeks ago with botted comments

Reddit has become unusable for me at this point. I will see 2-3 posts from my local subreddits and then everything else is “because you’ve shown interest in a similar community” of random cities I’ve never been to/ never will visit. It also won’t stop showing me trainwrecks. I don’t look for this content, and I mute every community it promotes and as someone who commutes by train everyday I really don’t want to see that shit.
There was the one high profile commander who stepped down du to this. Wish more would follow suit since it’s technically illegal for all involved to disobey orders unless they all do so collectively.
We really can only do much impact to our immediate area, most significant legacy positive legacy building is creating and propagating movements. If you want to feel like you’re making positive change then do things that help the people around you, the smallest things like shifting to local mom and pop shopping vs big retail for a couple purchases can help keep money local and supports them raising their families there in your town. Same as just picking up litter you might see as you walk through a park, you never know who’s watching and who it might influence to do the same or to stop littering over time. Not everything has to be macro but all the small decisions do add up to a pretty large change around you that will be noticed.
But we are a third world country… Last month there were churches all over the world raising money to help feed American children while our government was shut down and couldn’t help cover subsidies for food.

So many people are stressed and overwhelmed with the combination of things going on. Life, the economy, slop drama dressed as entertainment by they parasocially watch, etc. that they’re too mentally exhausted to interact much anymore outside of work and the immediate people in their household. I’m dealing with the same OP, I’m very active, love going to many events, and am always up to chill over food. Even if I offer to pay for tickets to go to sports games, find some good comedy tickets, or it’s a beautiful day to be outside and do nothing but chill in a park with some food, it’s still more convenient for almost all those friends who were previously into those common things to just watch them while on the couch eating DoorDash which I’m open to join them in doing. While the real experience of that same stadium is just miles away and a couple of dollars (sports city but half the teams currently aren’t winners). For my city at least, it’s mostly the 50+ that are out doing things. Anyone younger is typically rushing through errands or commuting between jobs and home.
Too many distractions from reality sadly as well as the “If it doesn’t affect me then why should I care” mindsets. I’ve got friends who would also fit into the demographics to be harassed but fall into these mindsets. I will continue to protests as they happen locally as many more people should. It seems to have pushed the local DA to be on our side publicly against ICE abuses if they do deploy here

Had a similar thing happen in middle school. Got jumped twice with one of them being inside the hallway of the school and them breaking my glasses. I blacked out and hurt one of them by slamming his head to the wall to stop it so the school and his parents called the cops on me which treated it as assault. Since it was in the hallway there were witnesses that came to speak to them and one of the teachers brining back my broken glasses so that didn’t go far past my lack of care for the authority there until I left at end of the school year*. The year before that one of our teachers encouraged that I fight one of those dudes in class since she considered her room where “beef is squashed” but I had no beef with them (rough city but I wasn’t involved in the street/gang drama the mid 2000s had going on). That school shut down 2 years later and became a new brand.
