You can just turn off receiving all messages from any user. This is specifically for people who told their friends that they don’t want to listen to voice messages and want texts, but friends still use voices. Every one I know has a friend like that.
For a long time it was ran on money that Durov made from VK and it’s selling deal and had no ads, almost perfect development. It was a ton of money obviously, but we all knew it would run out sooner or later and then everything would change. I bought premium once because I wanted to support the project, and I still use it. Hopefully I won’t have to use anything else, because I hate almost any other messenger.

It certainly is true, Microsoft has been dominating office and home space for a very long time, often even doing thinks like allowing Windows piracy in eastern Europe and Asia just so they use Windows too and don’t start using their own alternative like Linux.
Although, nowdays Windows have become enshittified, Linux has become user-friendly and Steam Deck has promoted Linux use for gaming and desktop, so it’s slowly changing. MacOS also had a solid second position for more than a decade.
Because it’s not possible to enforce. And I’m not talking about minors, but they suffer in result too. In my country these things were hot selling things so often sellers wouldn’t check ID, and even then, it’s not like asking an older brother to buy you something doesn’t exist. It’s just much worse than with alcohol or regular cigarettes because young people and minors often don’t like those.
