  • There’s concern that young people have very poorly developed analog knowledge. Humans usually learn better by combining sensory inputs, such as learning better by writing things down or tying things to memories. Smells famously tie into memories very well. By only typing, and having very little connections to the real world in the context of learning, there is the fear that they will learn less and also not be able to learn, since they are lacking those sensory connections. They also have horrible handwriting, probably spelling as well due to autocorrect. This is practically not a problem, but if the next generations grow up not knowing “how to language”, that is probably not ideal.

  • Indeed. Also the picture is showing fillers or silicone. Botox is mostly harmless as it is gradually removed by the body. It paralyses muscles, which is why actors who use it can’t emote, but it does not cause the stung-by-a-bee look.

It is often used for migraines, neurological - muscular conditions, and for delicate surgery where you need a muscle to remain paralysed while it heals or during surgery.

  • While I agree with you, it’s a bit unfair to compare the two.

DE is “just” a point and click pushed to an absurd level of quality, meaning that most of the production can go into managing a story.

OW is an fps, meaning you need a gameplay loop, weapons, balancing, environments, etc etc. It’s also a dark satire, not a serious philosophical work like elysium. Reading 10 pages of text on the nature of violence before you get to shoot your gun would not work.

This doesn’t excuse a weak story, but does explain how it’s much more difficult and costly to fit one in there. (yes bioshock, but those games are the exception in fps games).

I would love a better story, with a tightly integrated story, that would be very difficult to pull off in the current game dev space at this scale.
