  • So this is coming up on the one-year anniversary, when I was beyond frustrated with Reddit, when I decided to ‘jump in to the FV,’ and was matched up with this particular random instance / site.

Dudes… I feel like I’m the luckiest person in the universe.

OP has not only taken his personal time to help me across multiple various issues, but even resurrected my community when I accidentally deleted it a couple months ago(!)

Our little Euro-art community, such as it is, would simply NOT be possible without OP.

I am BEYOND grateful, sir. <3

  • …require knife & fork.

    Sort of
Depending on the company and setting, perhaps. But they can still be eaten with hands, provided there’s a napkin and preferably a little water around, afterwards.

As someone who grew up in Philly, we have a local/regional sandwich that’s a whole lot messier than that Chicago one. I think once or twice in my life did I see someone eating it with a knife and fork, and I suspect they were from out of town.

  • Can someone explain this one for me?

Apart from the algorithm-angle, I kind of enjoyed it as an analogue to institutions like Christianity. Think of the formula as a typical sculpture of Christ on the cross-- commonly revered by millions, but at its heart, something which doesn’t add up in today’s world, leading millions of slavish worshippers astray over and over again.

(haha, and yes, that was a cynical interpretation indeed)

  • Hahaha… I’ve pointed that out so many times that I’m glad it eventually stuck, i.e. the ‘cardboard cutout’ thing and the windows built out of physics from Flatland.

I needed to preserve that NAPGism.

I know I’m frequently complaining about Gallagher’s consistency of professionalism, but it really is sort of wonderful the way he’s such a huge slacker in that way. So much more interesting than the consistent but totally banal ‘production type’ comics of some of his colleagues.

  • Very cool. I post roundups like this on a regular basis for my community, and let’s just say that a certain ‘labor of love’ needs to be involved.

Anyway, I like these ‘empty, meditative landscapes.’
So often we seem to think that a landscape needs lots of things going on, but these work perfectly well I think, with their sense of ‘stretching to infinity.’

Btw, in case this is of interest, one can have the images expand with a click, for example:
