They absolutely do! Some animals mate for life. Some mourn when one of their own dies (see whales, elephants). Parrots who are lonely may self-mutilate. Dogs can remember you and get so excited to see you, even after being separated for years. Interspecies friendships exist. It’s like… I don’t see how people can still think animals DON’T have emotions.
They just don’t make faces like humans do. Although interestingly, dogs developed eyebrow muscles that give them more human-like expressions, which therefore strengthens our bond with them.
That’s why I love the MH series - plenty of value, even just solo’ing it. I’m still trying to finish up World, doing everything I want to do. Unfortunately I have to put a lot of time into these games to “git gud” lol. And of course at the same time, real life responsibilities calls. xD Not quite ready to move on just yet!
RIP Joe Strummer, one of the greats.
“And I got to hurry up before I grow too old.”
Wow good on Thailand! I’m shocked not sooner considering all the lady-boy stuff going on lol. Think they’d be down for that kinda stuff.
Yeah he’s 65, he’s gotta stop doing this and get help. It’s not the 90s anymore…
4.5 min video of the exchange. Very satisfying watch!
Asshole cop vs asshole citizen is what the video showed. I’m far from a cop lover but I can see how it feels on the other side of a rolled up window where you can’t see what’s going on and the person inside’s being non-compliant. Don’t fuck around and talk shit while rolling up your tinted window when a cop pulls you over. People in this country are strapped up. Especially in a concealed carry state like Florida that is full of insane people. Cops are on edge for a reason when they’re doing a traffic stop. If I did what Tyreek Hill did, I’d fully expect to be asked to step out or pulled out of my car
Excessive use of force by the cop who clearly wanted to escalate. Tyreek Hill also wasn’t being smart in the way that was handled. We already know how paranoid and trigger happy law enforcement can be. People like to act tough on the internet, but I wouldn’t DARE roll up tinted windows during a police stop knowing how shit could escalate. I’m trying to have them see my hands at all times. That’s exactly the kind of shit that can happen when you’re just trying to get home safe. Whatever it is, it’s not worth it.
I love this theme. This is an epic performance. Thanks for sharing!
Joined! I still visit the subreddits, but it’d be nice to get some NFL traction on Lemmy. :)
Ah thanks for asking this question, didn’t know about the long press. Was getting tired of blocking all these porn/kink communities by visiting the communities themselves lol some of them are… shudder like pls don’t make me go there! xD
https://lemmynsfw.com/communities ?
Not sure what other NSFW instances off the top of my head. I think lemmit.online mirrors different subreddits, so maybe some NSFW options there
Huh. I couldn’t see the image at first. Clicked on the original post and couldn’t see that either. Went back to start typing this response and in that time, the image loaded. So maybe it’s slow to load or fetch or whatever?
Anecdotal, but I think there’s some kind of immunity component. My parents grew up in a mosquito infested country. When we visited said country, us kids were bitten up while my parents were fine. If it was genetics, you think it would’ve been passed on to us. The locals commonly joked that mosquitos like “new blood.” You could see tourists with itchy red bite reactions while the locals were fine.
Oh wow, this is a REALLY cool visualization. I’m going to show this to friends who can’t read sheet music. Thanks for sharing!
Also I can’t remember seeing a Youtube video that old. Pretty OG.
There are informational videos you can watch on Youtube too. Here’s one for example:
Damn that might be mine too. We didn’t get to have video games when I was little. Then I discovered PC gaming via Runescape😂
Tildes is a good example of a healthy community that allows for differences while encouraging good faith discussion. They police for tone instead of wrongness and it’s been working out over there. People are generally happy with the discourse.
A lot of it is in site design, too. There aren’t downvotes, because they’re not needed. There’s a lot of proactive moderation coming from the community by using comment labels. Labels help push comments up or down, and some require you to type a reason why, which encourages thoughtfulness instead of knee-jerk hivemind reaction and pile on. The only publicly visible label is the “good” one, so it keeps things positive. The “bad” label alerts mods and has a cooldown time limit, so it’s less likely to be abused. I believe once it’s used on a comment, the person can no longer reply to it, which helps avoid negative back and forths.
Potatoes when cooked then cooled actually greatly lowers the glycemic index, so it’s weird but actually not a bad habit to have!
