Thanks for responding so fast! I think you already did everything you could. I’m sure it will be better once someone is able to change the display title at least. I’m glad this community is taking off :)

I don’t knoww haha, because I would have to check on the original instance, and most of the time I just subscribe and move on.
I think on kbin.social one of the developers is adding the new communities very quickly so the display name is based on the address one.
This is what it looks like on kbin.social - https://kbin.social/m/[email protected]
When I do search on kbin.social however for a community, ones on lemmy won’t show with the display name anyway I think; it will show the address like “[email protected]”
I was able to find and add this community because of a reddit migration directory to show me this community is for adhdmemes :)
Is it possible to rename the display name for this magazine to “ADHD memes”? The original instance updated the display name, but the address will always be the same.
Forum on the original instance is here https://lemmy.dbzer0.com/c/adhd
Ahh I see, yeah on your instance, I saw it’s already called ADHD memes. Thanks, maybe I can contact the first person that subscribed to update the name displayed on kbin.
Sorry if it’s not allowed to post like this (just lmk and I’ll delete, or feel free to delete), but do you think it would be a good idea to rename this community to something like “adhdmeme”? I’m browsing from kbin.social, where the name is just “adhd”, which makes it hard for me to differentiate if the post on my feed is coming from lighter forum, or if it’s from this slightly more serious forum also called adhd (but from kbin)
What does it mean to be a bot account? I saw the setting, but I didn’t know what it meant
Are they just not working for now or something? When I tried these, nothing was found.
For kbin, for now I just type the name of the lemmy community, and that will show a bunch of communities/mags and where they’re actually from like “nostupidquestions” gives [email protected], [email protected], [email protected], [email protected], [email protected]. It seems if I try putting “@nostupidquestions” there’s no search results
I’ll put a picture of what I get when I search on lemmy
@SoupOfTheDay
Thanks! I finally learned too I can do Create a New Article as well that’s like an entry that’s only gonna be text
Sometimes the site goes a little buggy. Sometimes i get 503 but i just wait, refresh, or i heard someone say too they have lemmy and kbin account and use the other when one is down xD I think it’s still adjusting to having so many users
I’m glad. Amazon doesn’t let workers unionize even though their work conditions are bad. I always see these truck/van drivers running to their next stop
I think that is true that most people will not leave reddit. I’m in a subreddit called redditalternatives, and lately not many people are posting in it anymore. It definitely feels like a niche thing, but I think it’s okay. Reddit won’t last forever, and in the meantime, we can be seeing if fediverse is the way forward. This isn’t the first time reddit screwed up and it won’t be the last.
They’re also I think trying to become like tiktok and give lots of forever scrollable content, but I think tiktok/youtube shorts already fill that niche
I think number 1 is important so it’s easier to move. Otherwise we could feel centralized to one instance rather than feeling free to federate
Yeah for me I made the transition today feeling the same way as you. It sucks that just because mods try to go on strike, on behalf of everyone really, the users try to help reddit instead.
For me I’m making the change after being sure I won’t regret/miss too much the content on reddit. I might still go back sometimes for a google search (appending reddit), but for the most part, I’m not using it as a platform I browse.
Even if this fediverse stuff doesn’t pan out, I’m happy to tread these waters and see if it’ll be our future solution to avoiding these greed induced social media self destructions.
Today was the first day I just felt so sickened by how reddit just wouldn’t budge, no matter how disatisfied its users are. I just didn’t even feel good about using the site anymore, even if I love the content/lazy content there
Give it time for sure, OP. I’m new :) I actually made an account 2 days ago, but it was bugging due to server load so I couldnt stay logged on.
Today though, I tried again and it works great, and I’m finding so far, it’s not as complicated as some redditors made it out to be. I think that was the reason for my hesitancy, so I think because of the cautions, people will be slower to try it out
The teacher would also out helen keller’s hand on the teacher’s face so helen could feel throat vibrations, the way the lips moved. Because of that, helen could actually talk (even though it sounded a little strange). You can youtube her speech
Thanks for your sacrifice in the fight
Yeah I have noticed on lemmy.studio, a newer server, some of the communities from either kbin or lemmy didn’t update, but then after some time, som of them diiid update, with I think all of the old posts, and even if those old posts didn’t have comments. So maybe that’s why it happened for me but some are still unupdated
