“I don’t know why or how…”
Admits they have no idea what they’re talking about, and yet is so confident they’re correct. It’s fucking amazing how stupid people are.

How would a single senator repeal a bill?
Well… Because it’s not wasteful at all. The point is to make it easier to read. As long as you’re not rough with it, all the pages should stay in, and then you can put both halves back on the shelf when you’re done (or just recycle it, since paper is one of the few things that’s actually recyclable). Nothing is being destroyed.

Yes, my understanding is that it’s legal in the US to purchase prescription-only drugs from overseas as long as they’re only for personal use. It’s kind of a grey area but as long as they’re not scheduled substances, I and multiple people I know have saved a lot of money by buying prescription drugs from Europe and shipping them here (we have such a wonderfully broken system here, don’t we?)

Cause it is. Em-dash in the title and words that are bold for no reason? Clear signs the post was made with an LLM.

Every physical therapist I’ve been to has said that stretching cold muscles is actually more likely to injure you than doing some light cardio to warm up before stretching.

I find it hard to believe that it’s somehow cheaper for them to mass produce two different models of Switch 2 for different regions than to just bite the bullet and make battery replacements easier for everyone.
I mean, even Apple chose to give up the lightning port across all their phones after the EU required it, and they had a much bigger incentive to not change in other regions since they made a good deal of money via lightning adapter licensing/certification.
Hopefully this will eventually trickle over to international models, unless Nintendo decides to burn even more consumer good will than they already have.

No, it’s not forbidden. No idea what that commenter is talking about.

Only certain planets (like ours) actually have a liquid core with a solid outer crust. Most rocky planets are like Mars, completely solid all the way through.
I believe what the other commenter was getting at is that, on large scales, the solids that make up planets behave like liquids do at smaller scales. Since if you zoom out, there’s not much different between a bunch of rocks loosely held together with gravity and a water droplet weakly held together by surface tension.
It shouldn’t cause issues, since the water will remain in the heater without any pressure to push it out, there’s no difference between leaving it sitting with the valve open or closed.
Now, draining the tank could actually cause problems… But there’s not any reason for you to do that for what you’re trying to accomplish.
You should be able to turn off that cold water inlet valve instead. The pressure from the hot water tank comes from the cold water being pushed into it, so just turn off the valve and open a hot water faucet somewhere nearby to release any pressure that has already built up or may get through that crappy valve.

I mean, you probably should give a shit, if you’re at all interested in being able to get this vaccine. Moderna can’t bring it to market without the FDA’s approval.

Like the other commenter said, try pressing F5, or right-click the empty space in a folder and click “refresh”. The file is likely there, but sometimes Explorer just doesn’t update immediately for whatever reason.

Is there an open-source file format for print? PDFs are still so widely used because they’re the only format (that I’m aware of) where you can take what you see on your screen, send it to someone else, and it will look/print exactly the same way. I’d love it if there was an equivalent FOSS option that I didn’t need a pirated Adobe Acrobat to edit effectively.

Here’s the thing. We actually have NO idea what to look for. Our sample size of “planets that have life” is exactly one, which doesn’t really tell us much. Since we know that an Earth-like planet can support life, it makes sense to start our search there, but there’s no reason to believe that extraterrestrial life might not be completely and utterly different from anything on our little rock.
That being said, liquid water is extremely conducive to complex chemical reactions, which are probably required for complex life. But you also need chemicals that are both reactive enough to do things, but can be stable enough to not randomly break apart. This is one of the reasons carbon is so good at being alive, it’s reactive enough to bond with a lot of other elements (including itself), but not too reactive to be useful.
So basically, this isn’t new. It’s just pointing out that a pure “water world” might not be very useful without a bunch of lively chemicals to boot.

If anyone’s curious:
I’m quite a fan of “old office PC from eBay with Debian LTS” myself. You can often get them with decent specs for $30-$40 (less than a Pi) since companies will deprecate them en-mass when their support contract ends.

The energy provided by a car-roof-sized solar panel would be completely, totally negligible compared to how much is used by a typical electric car. The only reason it works here is because these cars are so tiny. For a standard 4-door model? It would be a waste of time, and better to just put that panel on a roof somewhere instead.

ConcernedApe has been very supportive of modding Stardew Valley, so I don’t see why this game would be different
All we can hope for is that the AI bubble bursts very suddenly, and the manufacturers/distributors are left with a huge amount of excess stock and production capacity that will oversaturate the market.
DDR4 RAM prices did drop back down after a huge peak in 2018 caused by smartphones, although this is a much larger scale issue so who knows how it’ll play out.
