  • I have absolutely no problem with people using guns in a target shooting type of way.

Or in other responsible types of ways, like properly managed hunting or where there are things like moose and polar and grizzly bears. Guns are tools.

I don’t like guns, but I understand. Gun nuts are the problem, as are guns as tools that are only designed to kill humans. I can even understand why people would want to shoot an assault rifle or other weapon of war.

It just needs to be controlled.

The worst part is that I would really like to spend an afternoon blowing shit up. Go to someplace fun. Learn about the process. Then push the pluger.

The problem is that that’s actually well controlled. Enough so that I can’t really find a good way to experience it outside of a construction project in my past.

  • Lemmy is so toxic. Why down vote this?

Bobcats and house cats are obligate carnivores. Even if people doubt that you actually ate bobcat, I pretty much guarantee that it would be gross.

Outside of fish, where there are additional trophic levels, there are two reasons that we don’t eat carnivores.

First, there are fewer carnivores. The common figure is that in nature if you want 1 pound of animal, you need 10 pounds of animal food (I’m simplifying). So 100 pounds of herbivore food makes 10 pounds of herbivore which makes 1 pound of carnivore. And if you want to farm an animal it can’t be competing with you for food. It needs to, in general, eat stuff you don’t want to eat. Like grass or table scraps or bugs. We can eat herbivore meat. We love it so much that whenever we showed up, we ate everything to extinction.

Cats are separate. They kinda domesticated themselves because when we started storing grain lots of rodents showed up. They just ate them, doing both of us a favor.

Second, they taste nasty. We’ve got poultry. They eat “bugs” those are more like the plankton type trophic level. When they can catch things like snakes or mice, they go absolutely nuts, but they do so more rarely than obligate carnivores.

Then, there’s pigs. They have a similar enough diet as poultry, but we do feed them meat scraps. I can guess about why this is, but I can’t be as confident as I am about my other statements.

Finally, humans are alleged to taste like pig. Maybe that’s it.

  • I’m thinking you are agreeing with me on every thing I said, and I have made no such impossible request. I’ve already linked to the nhtsa which is charged with this, and I’m sure that there is something similar in the eu.

Jd is bad. Maybe you don’t agree that CR is, but that’s minor.

Tesla’s reliability is the topic at hand. That was my introductory statement.

Per the fires, that’s exactly what I meant. I’ve seen enough burning cars and had my other calls recalled. That’s just not news. It’s news when an EV does that.

  • I have yet to see any believable evidence that there is any excessive reliability problems with Tesla cars. And don’t try to cite consumer reports. They lost my business after they wouldn’t stop recommending Samsung products.

We have lemon laws for a reason. Because lots of cars are lemons. You are just only hearing about it because every car fire or trim problem or excessive repair needs on a Tesla is a news story that you recall. There are many similar phenomena that are at play here. Start with the availability hueristic if you’re interested.

I’ve seen lots of lemons in my life. My parents car blew a transmission right away. So many car fires on the side of the road, and I bet you don’t even know that Hyundai and Kia owners are being advised to park outside because there’s a high risk of fire. That’s really bad. If your ice catches fire when it’s parked and off, that’s a serious design flaw.
