Since I have nothing better to do, I dusted off my original Nexus Player and casted a couple of things from the Plex app on my phone. It works, so I would assume it would also work on your Chromecast.
The way I see it, it looks like it can’t write the files because it can’t fetch them from the network. Without a lot dump I may very well be wrong, though.
That looks like a network issue.

Do you know that most 8bit computers/consoles/arcades could have a bigger palette, right?
As an example, the NES had a 6 bits color palette for 60 total colors, the Amstrad CPC had 27 colors, and so on.

Depending on how heavy it is, you could use some blue tack. It comes off pretty easily without removing traces on the wall.
