That was my take away with what they were saying in a broad sense - making more and more and more paper is unsustainable not matter what. Reforestation is still hard on the creatures dependent on the original environment…monoculture destroys economies (only for poor people, obviously) - in the end, no matter what, creating new paper products on a whim is selfish, greedy and avoidable
Thank you - I knew there would be more pieces to investigate but I wasn’t sure what questions to ask - based on the price ($.07 each) I thought they might be a little too good to be true…I’ll see if they still hold up!
Oh for sure, anti-consumption is always important to remind. The packaging is out of control…and what paper does in terms of pollution - well I’ve simply had to come to terms I can’t control these garbage bags at the top, I can only control myself and do my best.
One thing I have found that I love is land-fill biodegradable bags for my customers. Paper, as meantioned, makes me wary, so when I found these I was pretty happy. They seem legit and they’re inexpensive

Yep, just found it the moment I realized it was a thing in this thread - go to your account settings and you’ll find an option to unselect bot accounts
I wish there was a way to just mark bot accounts…like finding out it’s a bot doing most the posting in TIL…wtf is that? If the community needs a bot to grow it, perhaps it’s not an important community on Lemmy at this time? Perhaps there’s another sub that’s going to grow more organically? In which we will infact learn something today?
Just want bot-less communities (other than fun/helpful ones that aren’t Grond) that aren’t headed by greed. Jfc.

I’m really not looking for a Reddit replica. And um, being rewarded for a good comment isn’t really something I need. Or anyone needs. I think getting a cookie for a good comment can be left behind
Edit to add - I should have read the rest of the post more carefully, but I stand by my initial sentiment. Money needs to be funneled into those working hard on this, but I don’t know, I don’t want more and more Reddit features coming out

What doesn’t work about it? (I honestly know nothing about it, but I know there are things that sound great on paper and propaganda but in practice it’s bull)
Problem is human rights have become the giant center of it all, and it IS if you’re not with me you’re against me. There’s no fence from where I stand because stripping rights to play games can’t be an option. All these bills being passed with no legs just to keep fires alive. I say this from a safe state, I’m white, born straight, all the simple stuff. I try not to be off-putting - but “I’m a fiscal conservative and a social democrat” is a cop-out these days
I almost deleted all this lol but I may as well post. I find all that you’ve written thoughtful. I’ve stayed out of politics for the past few months because it’s was all just been too much these past 6 or 7 years…and it’s about to get awful again. I think I’m glad I’m off Reddit for politics season. There were good discussions there, but I think there will be more to get out of it here

There was also just a huge dump of mods off some big subs, and a post about it on Lemmy with a link…I had been thinking about coming here specifically when I left Reddit, and the mod dump coupled with the link was the perfect opportunity, probably not just for me
