Oh here’s a fun scenario: FAANG stocks are correcting down and now there’s concern Anthropic will have timed their IPO perfectly such that the investors make out great and the employees have to deal with very much less liquid stock than when it triggered (leading to a massive tax bill they might not be able to cover)

So…

Jan has been putting out some good posts lately and I felt the latest one in my bones

Is it bad that my first thought was “at least she isn’t bragging about hitting her kids”?

Anyway, tech parents stop telling on yourselves. Challenge level impossible

Why would anyone get excited about EA now that they’ve killed beloved games studio BioWare

Ah yes, Nazis, well known for speaking english

Weird, it’s a regular Google trust services issued cert here; my Firefox doesn’t complain about it.

Feel like this blog must have made the rounds but today is the first time I’m actually reading it and it’s sharp enough to cut with:

Every death on my corner is offset, with a third of a toddler left over, and I’d like that number in the conversation the next time somebody calls me a murderer out the window of a passing Kia.

Something something a taint on the band’s reputation

This is incredible: A sigbovik paper “A Tensor-Based Expansion Of The Cube Rule For Generative Nutrient Morphology”

And one month later, a(n presumably but why not) LLM-plagiarized article published by Elsevier, “Generative AI for material design: A mechanics perspective from burgers to matter”

Damn, the guy doing Greg Brockman (looks like Cooper Hoffman if I read the IMDb cast list right) has gotten the stance and the face so spot on. Even just from the screenshots, I could tell that was supposed to be him.

Men Who Stare At Goats would have shut down the CIA first

Here’s a pretty thorough overview of why owning an LG television (or, more likely, any smart tv) is a bad deal https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=6IFVTcM28KA&ra=m

I do appreciate the “microslop” t-shirt.

They might want to put themselves in the ocean first, but great idea: sea water is famously friendly to machinery and accessing things on the sea is very easy and cheap at all times of the year.

Vindicate Tanenbaum in the greatest Usenet thread in os development: make it a microkernel.

Oooh, I hope we get to see a lot of experimental-sounding puberty blocker and hormone replacement trials.
