“the” mapping? there is no “the” mapping.

you are talking about the canonical inclusion mapping 1 in N to 1 in Z (restriction of the canonical inclusion of rings of integers Z into any other ring, Z is an initial object), which can be seen as a non-generic canonical mapping of semigroups.

but as sets, there is no inherent structure, there are injection, surjections, and of course bijections in both directions.

the only way one can call one set “bigger” is in the very strict sense of sets, N being a true subset of Q. however, this assumes N to be an actual subset of Q, which is a matter of definition and construction. so we say there is some embedding included, which is the same as (re)defining N as that embedded subset, so we are at your canonical inclusion of semigroups again. if you view this as inherent to N and Q, then there are “more” elements in Q as in N, but not in terms of cardinality.

  • indeed, the anti-limux stuff was a sort of microsoft marketing campain in disguise.

microsoft lobbied munich to abandon linux after they adopted it while abandoning windows, and also put in great effort to paint the narrative that it was due to linux being bad. they successfully pointed to things that didn’t work with linux, masking that the reason these things didn’t work were not due to linux but due to not updating or other administrative problems not related to the operating system.

  • It’s at least an actual fact that all of the crap that’s been polluting up our bodies has messed with our hormones and such

yeah, so what? who says that this wouldn’t lead to less gay people?

remember “don’t ask, don’t tell?” that basically meant that officially, 0% of men in the military were gay. obviously there were way more than 0% gays in the military. i don’t think it is a “dumb take” to say there weren’t necessarily less gays back then, because we know for a fact that there were way more gays than what was reflected in stastistics.

i am certain that there are studies on this, too.

    this is a dumb take.

it’s pure speculation, there is no proven connection between teflon or microplastics or whatever and being gay (or i should say LGBTQ+).

even with the testosterone thing being true: since when does low testosterone mean LGBTQ+?

this stupid take just strengthes the idea that being LGBTQ+ is some kind of illness, which really doesn’t help anyone.
