Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•People who "cross the T's and dot the I's" in their hand writing, how do you visualize a word when you write?
1·1 month agoBlock writing, do it with the letter, linked/cursive do it at the end of the word. Many linked writing words turn into a block-linked hybrid for legibility. Idk, just picture how well it will be read and write accordingly. Single strike-out if you mess up, it lets the reader see what you were trying to write but messed up, helps with homonyms…

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•Does Lemmy feel hostile and/or insular to you?
11·1 month agoIt’s a shift as more dedditors and mobile users migrate. I think I’m going to try some forums that don’t have an app so that there’s some entry barrier. I just can’t understand people posting pointless shit that doesn’t contribute to the conversation.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•Does Lemmy feel hostile and/or insular to you?
6·1 month agoYep, the content of comments is often good, but geez, there are a bunch of people with no social skills being total dorks or confidently incorrect

1·1 month agoI’m just saying that I’ve stayed in many nice hotels in Japan and the blower air always smells off and I can’t read the labels to know how to turn it off.

Europe@lemmy.ml•Europe is blaming China’s economic rise for its own failures, think tank says
12·2 months agoRest on your laurels and watch formerly colonized nations with a plan get ahead and then get jealous? Sounds like basically the last 80 years for Europe.
Change it to 2035 or 2040 and check back. I’ll bet you for your air conditioning credits against my houseplant allowances that it’s more like this than not.
For what and to what end?
A full-speed race to the bottom!
Starting to think about a Neu-Amish movement where we just stop with tech advancements post 2020 and live like it’s 2019 again. Shit, I’ll give up LTE and 5g to live in a world without social media.
If I need someone to generate slop and feed it to slop-eaters, I’ll hire someone to do it so I don’t have to be involved with any of them.
Don’t get a new Samsung. I liked mine until they moved/force updated to OneUI 8 like 3 months in and I have hated it since. I have an old LG 5g that I’m bringing out of retirement once this thing is paid off. Miss that SD card, 3.5mm aux, and a stable, reliable, predictable UI. Glad I took care of that old phone since LG is out of the market and we have like 3 options in the States for phone hardware anymore…

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•Have I been traumatized into thinking that it is rare for women to enjoy spoiling their male partners with affection?
2·2 months agoIt’s a cultural thing. We in the anglosphere have been mentally poisoned to need everything to be transactional or cost to benefit analysis based. ‘What’s in it for me’ mentality.
Date other cultures to find what you’re looking for, but there will be other expectations from you, as well.
