Sometimes i’ll do this in the winter. We try to minimize heat/AC energy usage, and i get cold easily, so once i’m in the nice warm shower it takes a minute to work up the courage to make the mad dash to get my clothes back on lol

wouldn’t it be awesome to get a case pushed up to the supreme court or something arguing that trump is ineligible to run for president because he “won” in 2016? it would just so perfectly highlight the hypocrisy of it all
For real. I’m over here having a mid-life crisis since I was 27.
i’m a big fan of “hectomillionaires” (the term, not the system that allows hectomillionaires to exist to the detriment of us all, of course)
unlike that window…
I think, from the photon’s perspective, the time between emission and absorption is instantaneous (since they’re traveling at the speed of light). i imagine a photon’s journey would feel like utter chaos.
I use FiraCode Nerd Font Mono instead, but it also does not have a specific italic font. In my config, only the “normal” section is defined, but all my bold and/or italic text looks like it should. Apparently, alacritty will apply a heavier weight or slant to the “normal” type face if you simply omit the “bold” or “italic” sections. So, what you have right now should Just Work.
Allegedly, you can omit the “style” specification in the “italic” section (ie: just add "italic": {"family": "FiraMono Nerd Font"},
to your config snippit above), but i haven’t actually tried doing it that way.
I truly appreciate the pic! They’ve been putting in a new housing development nearby, and apparently have no idea how to NOT knock my power out at least once a week (which as a work-from-home programmer is… not ideal). So I am just gonna wait until the blasting calms down before i try to figure it out again lol
Same here. It was a life-changing discovery. Until the power went out and all the settings got reset… Too bad I’m a lazy asshole. Those were some good ol’ days…
You ever play the video game Inside?
Due to some poorly placed quotes, I managed to create a subdirectory named ~
in my home folder. You can imagine what happened next. Luckily, I had just gotten my backup system up and running the day before, so nothing was lost.
Sure. It all kinda has to connect to the brain somehow, or our naturally occurring meat suit wouldn’t work either, lol. But i think your proposed “adapters” may have to do more postprocessing of the signal for some senses more than for others:
In vertebrates, the CNS also includes the retina and the optic nerve (cranial nerve II), as well as the olfactory nerves and olfactory epithelium. As parts of the CNS, they connect directly to brain neurons without intermediate ganglia.
Which kinda makes me think we should put a nose on the image in the post, while we’re at it.
But i’m also just reporting back from a Wikipedia rabbit-hole. I don’t really know much at all about anatomy.
The Retina Wikipedia page seems to agree with you:
In vertebrate embryonic development, the retina and the optic nerve originate as outgrowths of the developing brain, specifically the embryonic diencephalon; thus, the retina is considered part of the central nervous system (CNS) and is actually brain tissue.
or cut the size but keep the price the same, then release a new “jumbo size” that’s as big as the previous size (with the new and improved higher unit price), then discontinue the “standard” size.
I’m traveling forward in time right now.
While i do think life exists elsewhere in the universe, I think the chances of extraterrestrial biological entities coming to our planet is exceedingly unlikely. Space is just too big, and there isn’t any hard evidence that faster-than-light travel is even possible.
Although, the universe isn’t just big – it’s old. There could be some ancient civilization from an ancient planet that became uninhabitable long ago. If they were technologically advanced enough to escape their solar system before things went tits-up AND were able to live multiple generations fully in space AND they just so happened to set out in our direction, I guess it’s possible that they found us. Even then, i would expect any UFOs or whatever would merely be probes, not the actual biological entities themselves.
The particular acid (sulfuric acid) in the graph is especially complicated b/c it has three different protonation states that are favored at different pHs. Other acids (like nitric, for example) at least only have two protonation states to worry about…
Some kid in middle school put mario on my TI-83. The buttons were not ergonomic at all, but it was cool. I also wrote my first ever script on the thing; it solved the quadratic equation.
i have totally run into stuff that silently truncates the password i give it. It’s always something like online banking that you would hope has robust enough security standards to hash that shit, too… The one in particular i’m thinking of silently truncated the password in the reset-password form, but not for the log-in form. Took me forever to figure out wtf was going on there.
