Its nuts that during the Obama admin, all anyone cared about was the threat of zero privacy. Now everyone in the US has surrendered to it, because our politicians have sold our digital privacy rights to the tech companies.

I dont love endless corporate mergers, but Sony bitching about exclusivity from this particulare one, made me want this to happen.
I think meta will dominate the space that federates with it. Hopefully none of my instances will do that… And I will be unaffected.
This might sound crazy, but i am just using the website via Firefox on my phone. Jerboa wasnt doing it for me, and someone recommended just using the website… I prefer it over jerboa. I imagine with all the development going on, there will be something better showing up, but until it does, I’m just going old school.

Ive been on reddit maybe 5 times since the sunday prior to the blackout… Four of those were by mistake, just habitually going to the website when on my pc, or accidentally opening baconreader on my phone.
I am making every effort to not go to reddit for anything if I can help it. I realize that most people arent doing this, and probably a dumb symbolic protest… but Ive gotta stand on this one.
I dont think I will ever really replace Reddit with Lemmy, but ending the doomscrolling on any app is probably a better thing for me.
Thank God… Or the EU regulations… Whichever.
