It’s very clear that that EVs are able to save more carbon emissions than in a fairly short period than you would save by not continuing to drive an ICE vehicle, with manufacturing included.

If we were going to have a simple rule, replacing all ICE vehicles today with EVs will be far better for the climate than keeping them.

• Global poverty rate (going down)
• Global average lifespan (going up)
• Global literacy rate (going up)
• Global internet access (going up)
• Global infant mortality and maternal mortality (going down)

The reality is, most of the world by many metrics is getting better over time. There are things that threaten this (climate change and increasing authorititarianism) and it has slowed, but overall we are still generally positive trajectory wise. In fact, I would say that in most metrics that matter, we are improving.

IMO guaranteed child welfare (including universal lunch) is 100% consistent with any major political idealogy that is internally consistent.

Libertarianism? The whole basis is the personal choice, autonomy, and the ethics of consent. Children fundamentally cannot consent. They still, however, individual agents. They simply are in a state where social order defines their outcome. As society, we must then take this to maximize their outcomes and ultimately their personal liberty - when they reach an age where they can operate with it.

Therefore, we have to choose between depriving others of a relatively small resource, or depriving children of a major resource: the nature of their ability to participate with full autonomy and personal liberty.

The choice, in my opinion, is very clear.
